Biden and Harris visit Atlanta, condemning attacks and violence against Asians
On March 20, #President Biden# and #Vice President Harris# met with Asian American leaders in Atlanta to discuss the attacks on March 16 and the ongoing violence against the community. President Biden said on Twitter, "It was a heart-wrenching meeting that made clear the urgent work that lies ahead. We must come together as one America, stand against hate, and root out racism wherever we find it."
The President also called on Congress to take further action with the COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act, saying: “everyone deserves to live their lives with safety, dignity, and respect.” During his first week in office, President Bidensigned a memorandumto condemn and combat racism against the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community.
Vice President Harris said on Twitter, "We want Asian Americans in Georgia and across our nation to know: We won't be silent. We won't standby. We will always speak out against violence."
